Franklin Logistics: a courier company’s ordering platform, live in 26 days

From signed agreement to real customer orders in under a month — a complete ordering, dispatch and payments platform for a Calgary same-day courier.

The client

Franklin Logistics is a same-day courier serving Calgary businesses — contractors, suppliers, clinics, offices. When we met, the two principals were taking every order by phone and text. They wanted what larger carriers have: customers ordering online at their own domain, prices calculated from their own rate rules, payments collected automatically, and drivers updated in real time. They also wanted to own the result outright.

What I built

A complete platform under their brand at franklinlogistics.ca:

Business customers apply for an account, get approved by Franklin, and place orders with an instant quote calculated server-side from Franklin’s own pricing rules — zones, weight bands, service levels, extra stops. Payment is taken by credit card through Stripe, or by Interac e-Transfer: incoming transfer notifications are parsed and matched to orders automatically, so an e-Transfer payment confirms and dispatches an order with nobody touching a keyboard.

Dispatch assigns a driver, and the driver runs the whole delivery from a phone — a secure link, with live status updates flowing back to the customer by text and email at every step: order received, driver assigned, picked up, on the way, delivered. Staff get a printable Bill of Lading, an admin console for orders, drivers, accounts, incoming e-Transfers and rate configuration, and email alerts on every new order and signup.

Under the hood: Laravel and MySQL on Canadian hosting, Stripe Checkout with signature-verified webhooks, carrier-compliant SMS through Twilio, transactional email through Mailgun, bot protection on every public form, and over two hundred automated tests. The customer-facing website was rebuilt and relaunched as part of the project.

Built for how Canadian business actually pays

Interac e-Transfer is how much of Canadian B2B pays, and most delivery software ignores it. Franklin’s platform treats it as a first-class payment method with automatic reconciliation, alongside cards, with GST handled correctly throughout.

The timeline

Agreement signed June 19. Franklin’s own team tested the working build in early July and approved it without change requests. Marketing site live, payments live, and the first real orders flowing on July 15 — 26 days after signing.

After launch

The platform runs under an ongoing care plan — hosting, monitoring, backups, updates, and same-week refinements as Franklin’s daily use surfaces them. They own the application code and their data outright.

"Igor never simply delivered what we asked for—he consistently challenged us to think bigger. He offered thoughtful recommendations, creative solutions, and valuable insights that elevated our project far beyond what we had originally imagined. We wholeheartedly and without hesitation recommend him."
